Economic Justice

Working people deserve a living wage, the right to organize, and an economy that works for everyone — not just the billionaire class. It's time to tax extreme wealth and invest in the people who actually build this country.

For decades, working people have been told to wait while the wealthy get wealthier. Wages have stagnated while productivity has soared. Unions have been crushed while CEO pay has skyrocketed. The rules of our economy have been rigged in favor of those at the top.

A real commitment to economic justice starts with a $20 federal minimum wage — a living wage that allows people to work one job and live with dignity. It means strengthening workers' rights to organize and bargain collectively, including passing the PRO Act to make it easier to form unions.

We must also reform our tax system so that the ultra-wealthy pay their fair share. A 70% marginal tax rate on income over $10 million, a wealth tax on fortunes over $50 million, and closing corporate tax loopholes would raise the revenue needed to fund the public investments our communities need — education, healthcare, housing, and infrastructure.

The economy should work for working people. That means more economic democracy: more worker ownership, stronger labor protections, and an end to the corruption of insider trading and corporate dominance of our political system.
